balcony overlooking the yacht club slips. At the room’s
west end is a bar with seats for a dozen, and a compact,
commercial grade kitchen beyond it. Horizontal
wooden louvers hang on steel frames to form sun
screens along the window walls, and the building’s
butterfly roof, supported by visible steel beams,
provides a deep overhang shading the porch.
As far as the membership is concerned, the new
yacht club facilities are flying in full colors. “They
cherish having a building that’s truly a piece of
architecture, as opposed to just a building on the
water,” Quill said.
