was surprised and charmed by the number of requests
they received for a new playground, and Bowie
Gridley worked directly with Kompan, a playground
equipment manufacturer, to create a space designed for
age-appropriate recreation.
“I’m most proud of our collaboration,”
Robinson said, crediting the school, the contractor
(Whiting-Turner), and the design team. Time spent
working together with each stakeholder through
an intense charrette process paid off, according to
Robinson, in the finished product, which allows the
desired “look and feel, and what the students felt about
the school,” to shine through.
