The center’s SORG Gallery includes the winners of this year’s Unbuilt Washington Awards.
Unbuilt Washington is a competition involving the design of mostly theoretical projects. This years’ winners will
most likely never actually be built, but they show architects and students wrestling with some big issues like what to do
with dilapidated buildings in the middle of a major city, how the design of a school can promote learning for an at-risk
population, or how you can distill the essence of a country into one room. These fascinating projects will be on
view in our lower level gallery from September 19 to October 26. 2018.
Our storefront Sigal Gallery displays selected works from our Emerging Architects Committee thesis competition.
For the past five years our committee of young architects has run this competition to showcase the research work
of architecture students. This program helps to bridge the gap between recent graduates and practicing architects by
providing an opportunity for practitioners and the public to view student work emerging from today’s architecture
schools. The exhibition runs from September 11 to October 26, 2018.
Gallery hours: 10–7 M-W, 10-5 Th and F.
Gallery hours are subject to change; please call ahead to be sure at 202-347-9403.
